The Microsoft Surface Tablet – An Overview

Microsoft Surface is a tablet range designed and sold by Microsoft. The range first went on sale in 2012 and comes in two versions,: one with Windows RT and another with Windows 8 Pro. The Windows RT powered model uses an ARM CPU, while the Windows 8 Pro model uses the Intel CPU. Both Microsoft Surface models are able to install new applications online via the Windows Store, however you need the Windows 8 Pro model if you want to install traditional third-party desktop programs.

The Microsoft Surface models are constructed using an ultra-light and highly durable magnesium casing with an integrated kickstand to enable hands-free entertainment. You can enjoy HD video, take beautiful photographs and run an extensive range of applications. Both models have front and rear-facing LifeCam cameras and the Touch Cover clicks in to the Surface and offers a slim, spill-resistant keyboard. The Microsoft Surface is available in a choice of vibrant colours to match your personal style.

Even though they are incredibly thin, you still get features such as a full-size USB port, microSD card slot and an HD A/V out port. So you can plug in a hard drive or thumb drive and simply drag and drop files in the same way you’ve always done with Windows.
